About the speaker series

About the Speaker Series

"Dialogues in European Jain Studies" connects scholars across Europe and globally, discussing new and original research in the field of Jain Studies. Each event is organized around presentations from two scholars of Jain Studies undertaking related research. These presentations are introduced by a specialist overview of the subfield in question and followed by a Q&A session with the audience.

As a collaboration between Arihanta Institute, Ghent University, and the University of Birmingham, we feature a variety of topics and methodologies ranging from philosophical, anthropological, historical, philological, to engaged approaches of Jain Studies. All events are held online, and are intended to be accessible in times zones including Europe, North America, Africa, and India.

Following the success of the first edition of the Dialogues speaker series (2023-24), we are extending the discussions for the 2024-25 academic year under the title: "Dialogues in European Jain Studies: Connecting Around the Globe".
